A Cohesive Bathroom Accessories Collection

Using colour, materials and finishes to create a clear and distinctive product family.

This bathroom accessories collection for HEMA brings a shared design language to everyday essentials, including storage for soap, cotton pads and toothbrushes.

The design combines softly diffused white bodies with transparent aqua-coloured elements. Repeated proportions, rounded forms and layered components give the collection a recognisable identity, while allowing each product to serve a different purpose.

The contrast between the high-gloss transparent parts and the softly diffused white elements creates a balance between softness and a precise, almost laboratory-like character.

Transparency, Layering and Precision

The collection was developed around the contrast between high-gloss transparent components and softly diffused white shells. Together, these elements create depth, visual clarity and a recognisable identity across the complete product family.

The products were designed for frequent use in a wet environment. Smooth surfaces and generously rounded internal corners make them easy to wipe clean, while carefully engineered friction fits allow components to come together without visible fasteners.

Thick-walled white elements introduce softness and visual weight, giving the products a tactile and inviting quality while reinforcing the perceived quality of the collection.

What we did: product design, CMF and engineering

This project comes from Joanna Boothman’s earlier work at npk design. She was responsible for developing the collection from initial concepts through CMF and detailed engineering.

Particular attention was given to manufacturability, ease of cleaning and the precise fit between the individual parts. The work brought form, colour, material and production logic together in one coherent product family.

The result combines practical everyday usability with the visual clarity and refinement expected from a contemporary HEMA collection.
