The Wing Light is an advanced lighting concept we designed for Philips MyCreation/Signify to explore the aesthetic and functional boundaries of circular 3D printed luminaires. The resulting innovative design elevates the artistry of the brand to new heights.
Philips MyCreation/Signify are global leaders in providing lighting solutions for a wide range of applications. The Wing Light showcases their expertise in circular 3D printing technologies in a bold and pioneering way. At Groen & Boothman, we strive to design lighting solutions that are both beautiful and functional. The Wing Light, with its sleek, horizontal profile reminiscent of a winged spacecraft, is a true statement piece that commands attention. But it’s not just a pretty face – this luminaire offers both direct down-lighting and softly diffused ambient light, making it a versatile and practical addition to any space.
The 3D-printed Wing Lights bring task lighting and Philips Hue ambient light technology together to create a stunning atmosphere. Working with their amazing palette of 3D printed patterns and advanced 3D printing programming in the context of a linear lighting solution, we created a soulful luminaire that makes a bold visual statement whilst providing superb functional and ambient light, to tease the senses.
Breathing Innovation & Expertise Through Design
We collaborated closely with a select design team from Signify to bring this new vision to life, aiming to present it during The Milan Design Week 2024. Our goal was to push the boundaries of lighting design, using the latest tools and techniques to realize a fresh, captivating concept that shows off the brand’s unique capabilities.
Together with the dedicated team at Signify, we were able to design, develop, and produce these lamps in less than two months.
By integrating cutting-edge 3D printing with smart lighting technology, we have crafted a luminaire that is as versatile as it is beautiful. More than just a lighting solution; it is a beacon of what the future can hold for innovative, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing design. We are excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, inspired by our collaboration with Philips MyCreation/Signify.
This achievement reflects the synergy of our combined expertise and embodies the convergence of advanced technology and creative design, setting a new standard for what luminaires can achieve. The luminaires received many accolades during The Milan Design Week.
